Python 3.xx no compatible version of python was found

MessageAuthor

How to get python 3.5.1 or any other 3.X version beeing recognized in Reaper 5.11 x64 under Windows 8.1. I want to run beyond.Reaper to port a Cubase Control application to Reaper. I' frequently getting "no compatible version of python was found" in Preferences/Plugins/ReaScript. I tried python 3.2, 3.3, 3.5.1 with various settings in CustomPath and also specifying a specific dll. Python Installations went to c:\PythonXX After failing several attempts to get python running in Reaper I tried almost the same steps on a brand new laptop, also with W8.1 64 Bit. Same result, always "no compatible version of python was found". What's wrong ?

I already did the python Installation "for all users" and for testing purposes I copied python35.dll to c:\windows\system32 -> no success, python is still not recognized by reaper. ???

Have it working with python3.3.5 It seems to be a different Installer in Python 3.5.1 that is probably incompatible to reaper 5.11 or the 3.5 dll is incompatible also thanks

I seem to remember that with Win 8 there might be issues with certain DLL path locations preventing the DLLs from being executed. I never used W8 because there are lots of reports of multiple issues. So I just cling to W7 for now. Maybe it is wise to upgrade to W10 (of which I heard many positive reports), as long as it's free. I did this with my Mother's Tablet without any hassle: all installed software still working after the upgrade. -Michael
